Beyond Ktaadn: Explore the Eastern Alpine Areas
Eastern Alpine Tundra and associated alpine ecosystems are found primarily in New England, New York, Québec, Labrador, and Newfoundland. The most diverse and extensive tundra ecosystems are found on the west coast of Newfoundland and on Québec’s Gaspé peninsula. The southernmost extensive tundra habitat is found on Mount Washington in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest. The most isolated and remote tundra ecosystems are found in Québec and Labrador, where several plateaus and peaks associated with the Grenville and Superior provinces of the Canadian Shield shelter extensive alpine and tundra ecosystems.
